When renovating your home, there are hundreds of options a homeowner may choose from. One of the key features of a home are its windows. The choice can be tough because there are so many options! Choosing the right windows requires a balance between cost, style and efficiency. Generally, there are three types of window frames:
Wood Frame: Wood frames may have pleasing aesthetic qualities, but they are often significantly more expensive than other options. The fact that they must frequently be maintained (to avoid problems like rot and warping), as well as the risk of insect damage, often put homeowners off wood frames.
Composite Frame:
Composite-framed windows are made from a combination of materials (vinyl, metals and plastics) making them strong, stable and rot-resistant. Composite-framed windows typically require little maintenance and are popular because they merge the benefits of several other materials.
Vinyl Frame: Vinyl-framed windows are made of a type of vinyl that is impact resistant with internal chambers for maximum insulation. Vinyl-framed windows are incredibly strong and require no maintenance as the window frame will not deteriorate in any weather.
